Sometimes you get a litter so nice - you just can't make a decision. This is often the case with our Snips litters and is exactly what happened here. We couldn't decide, so these brothers both got to stay! While they're full siblings, they are very different bucks. Gunner (left) took very much after his sire, MR General B. He's a very powerful boy! Semper (right) reminds me so much of his half brother Spit Fire, taking after their dam. Semper unfortunately injured a fore leg when he was quite small, so he will be unable to show. We tried breeding these boys for their first kid crops during their first fall rut. Poor Semper just couldn't get it right (which end?). However Gunner managed to figure things out! His first litter hit the ground in early 2015 and just WOW! I'm really looking forward to seeing how these boys contribute to our herd. UPDATE - it finally came down to a numbers game, and Gunner got to stay! Semper is working as a herdsire at another farm. |
